Abstract
Â
Carl Rogers is one of the main figures in humanistic psychology who emphasized the importance of self-acceptance and the inner potential for growth in every individual. He introduced the concept of self-concept, which consists of the real self (the true self) and the ideal self (the desired self). A significant gap between the two can lead to inner conflict and psychological distress. Rogers also highlighted the need for unconditional positive regard, where individuals are accepted without conditions in order to grow optimally. He believed that every person has a natural tendency to develop and become a better version of themselves through a process of self-actualization. Rogers' ideas are highly relevant in daily life, especially in the fields of education and counseling, as they help individuals better understand, accept, and value themselves.
