Hey Sun When You Went Away

Hey sun, when you went away
To the south,
Winter came and grabbed away
Everything in our house. Beautiful sun, don’t go away anymore,
Don’t deprive us for your light,
We’ll sing for you, we will praise you
All day and all of night. So pleased we are that you brought
Wonderful weather for us,
If only all years around
We could have spring and green grass
The form of this poem has 3 stanza with four lines, also we call quatrain. In this poem, Aghaian uses rheme to demonstrates the power of artistic language for the reader by utilizing almost consistent perfect rhymes as a literary device with ABCB rhyme scheme. I thought that this poem is Elizabethan Sonnet, based on my knowledge and understood the materials.
This form has many connotation and denotation meanings, we can see from the first stanza “winter came and grabbed away everything in our house” it has a connotation meaning which is after sun go away from their life, they feel cold and loneliness even though they did everything to make they world warm and bright. From the second stanza, “We’ll sing for you, will praise you all day and all of night” it is connotation meanings, when I read this sentence I remember about someone’s presence in our life. We pray for they presence in our life to stay with me, we entertain them to make they happy and still stay with me, we always hope every times to make they stay but the fate want they go away from our life. And from the last stanza, “so please we are that you brought wonderful weather for us” it meanings someone’s presence brought a happiness in my life and make my world more colorful and meaningful.
This poem has a auditory imagery, because the writer wants us to imagine from sentence by sentence in the poet. The poet appeals to the reader’s sense of sight by describing something the speaker or narrator of the poem sees. It may include colors, brightness, shapes, sizes, and patterns. To provide readers with visual imagery, poets often use metaphor, simile, or personification in their description. In this poem, the writer used a personification to describe the poet. From line one in stanza two, we can see that the personification in this poem “Beautiful sun, don’t go away anymore” the writer put human characteristic “Beautiful” to the sun in this poem.
In this poem has a rhyme as a musical devices, to qualify as a rhyme, the vowel sounds and all of the sounds that come after the vowel sounds must be closely related. There are similar spelling in the poem, I take from the second stanza are “Don’t deprive us for your light and All day and all of night”. The last but not least, this poem has a theme about nature and love. In denotation meaning the theme is about nature but in connotation meaning we can see from the line and stanza there are love theme in the poem.
