Abstract

The problem of poverty remains an interesting problem to discuss and look for solutions. Various strategies undertaken to overcome and reduce poverty, one possible strategy is to increase the social capital of the poor. This paper is a theoretical study and review of the literature on social capital and its relation to poverty reduction. Based on the results of the study some literature and concepts of social capital should be used in the development of policies  to reduce poverty relation to the concept Katherine Rankin, that the appeal of social capital lies in its capacity to mobilize local social networks to address poverty.
