Moreover, rising nationalism and xenophobia often accompany major conflicts. Indonesia, known for its pluralistic society, may face heightened social tensions and divisions. The government would need to carefully manage these dynamics to maintain national unity and prevent internal instability.

4. Diplomatic Opportunities and Challenges

Despite the negative consequences, a global conflict may also create opportunities for Indonesia to play a more active diplomatic role. As a member of ASEAN and the G20, and with its experience in peacekeeping missions, Indonesia could position itself as a mediator or neutral actor promoting dialogue and conflict resolution.

Indonesia's track record in advocating for peaceful solutions, such as its consistent support for Palestine and its active role in promoting peace in Myanmar, demonstrates its potential to contribute constructively to de-escalation efforts (Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia, 2023). However, this diplomatic path would require careful balancing to avoid provoking major powers or becoming entangled in their rivalries.
