IPB Student Carry Out KKNT Activity at Kampung Menunggui, Kota Belud

The Villa Cat Shelter. dOKPRI


On the 23rd of July 2023, a student from Bogor Agricultural University who was taking part in the community service programme KKNT, group Malaysia-03, visited the cat shelter belonging to one of the client of Sunriz Kota Belud Clinic and Surgery which is Puan Faridah binti Saiman. The  shelter is located at Kampung Menunggui, Jalan Port Usukan, 89150 Kota Belud Sabah, Malaysia. There are total of 15 cats that have been adopted by the owner since 2020.
 
The purpose of this visitation is to help the owner clean the area of the shelter, give medicine such as vitamins and immune booster to the cats and raise the level of understanding of neutering and encourage them to neuter the cats. At the same time, the importance and encouraging for owner to neutering the cats are also presented by the student. After the presentation, the response was so encouraging that the owners brought the cats to get neutered.
 
On the other hand, the owner is provided with information about the benefits of neutering throughout the presentation, which include reducing the population of stray cats, reducing aggression and increasing the life span of the cat up to 3 to 5 years. In addition, the post-operative care of the neutering was well presented to the owner and staff of the shelter. Lastly, the cleaning of the shelter area are conducted by the student. The student is volunteer to wash the food bowl and drinker, mop the cage floor, prepare food for the cats, administer vitamins via oral, fix the cage wall and clean the cat's litter box.
