This research entitled Investigation of English Slang Words in the Movie 'Bad Boys: For Life', aims to identify the types, functions, and meanings of slang used in the movie. Using a qualitative method as described by Creswell (2013), the research explores understanding within a distinct methodological tradition that examines social and human issues. Allan and Burridge's (2006) theory is applied to classify slang types and analyze slang functions, while meanings are interpreted in context using The Online Slang Dictionary in 2025 and Oxford Learner's Dictionary in 2024. Data collection involved four steps: 1. watching the movie, 2. recording slang terms, 3. identifying slang, and 4. classifying slang by type, function, and meaning. The analysis identified five slang types, imitative, frivolous, fresh and creative, clipping, and acronym. From Allan and Burridge's(2006) seven functions, only four appeared: initiating interaction, conveying impressions, greeting, and insulting. Expressing anger, showing familiarity, and creating a relaxed atmosphere were absent. The findings confirm that informal English, particularly slang, often deviates from strict grammar rules. Despite using nonstandard expressions, the characters communicated effectively, illustrating that shared understanding can be more important than grammatical precision in casual conversation.
