In conclusion, Soekarno was the first Indonesian President to take office in the period 1945-1966. He played an important role to liberate the Indonesian from Dutch colonialism. He was the Proclaimer of Indonesian Independence (together with Mohammad Hatta), which occurred on 17 August 1945. Soekarno was the first person that introduces the concept of Pancasila as the foundation of the Indonesian state and he himself called it.
I called him as a hero because he is not only an influential for independence, but also from him I get the moral values are taught, such as always prioritize deliberation to consent, put the interests of the nation and state above personal interests, have the spirit of kinship and togetherness, brave and willing to sacrifice for the homeland, nation and state, and never give up.
I believe that true heroes are not only meritorious to the state, but the person must also have a good personality that reflects the moral values of the nation. One thing that I agreed with the definition of hero that comes from Maya Angelou that said, "I think a hero is any really intent on making this a better place for all people," and one another the definition from John Campbell that said, "A hero is someone who has given his or her life to something bigger than oneself". So, one thing that should be remembered that a hero is not just born, but created by the action taken.
