Sexual harassment is an act committed by an adult or older person to satisfy their sexual needs and the object used is children. There are a lot of cases of sexual abuse of children in Indonesia. KemenPPPA noted that sexual harassment of children has increased to reach 9,588 cases by 2022 in Indonesia. It makes Indonesia declared a state of emergency of sexual violence against children. The causes of this sexual harassment vary widely, firstly because of the strong relationship between the perpetrator and the victim, which should be able to protect the victims well, and then because of sexual abuse. There have been many cases like this in Indonesia, and one of the cases has been sexual assault in Madiun. The AP-initiated victim, who was only 17 years old, confessed to being raped by her father, grandfather, and uncle until the victim eventually fled the house in search of a safe place.Â
Sexual violence like this will cause social, physical, and psychological trauma to the child. Children tend to be quiet and unwilling to open up to others. This will affect the fate of the future nation, which is basically the children of the next generation of the nation that is expected to be able to build and hold this nation better. In conclusion, children are the assets of the state that are necessary to carry on the fate of this nation. Protecting children also means protecting the future of the nation. May this sexual violence be put to an end soon and obtain fair justice.
