Friday, November 4th 2022 - Students of the State University of Malang KKN MBKM carry out one of their quite interesting work programs, namely the Literacy Gazebo & English Day Event. This program itself is the beginning of a movement to realize the aspirations of the residents of Ndhil Koro Village to become an educational village. This event was held for 3 days with the peak event on November 4th 2022. This event took place in Ndhil Koro Village, Rejosari Village, Kec. Bantul, Kab. Poor. The Work Program itself consists of 2 main events, namely the construction of a Gazebo for a place to read and the holding of an English Day event.
The work  of the program is prepared for one month with stages; opening book & money donations, accepting donations, closing donations at the end of October after that starting licensing and making banners and arranging books in the gazebo, then holding a literacy gazebo event. The Literacy Gazebo event was held for three days by inviting and introducing village children consisting of elementary-junior high school students to come and read the books available in the gazebo, then at the peak of the D day on November 4 2022, students held an English Day event where on that day, the children studied fully in English.Â
The English material taught is basic material such as the introduction of numbers, colors, animal names, fruit names, and body parts. This event was carried out in a happy atmosphere because the enthusiasm of the Ndhil Koro village children was quite high, so it was very easy for students and children to interact.
The implementation of this work program itself is carried out with the hope of encouraging interest in reading for the children of the Ndhil Koro village, amidst the widespread use of gadgets for children.
Apart from that, to increase children's interest in English, aside from the English Day event being held, the books at the Literacy Gazebo of Kampung Ndhil Koro are also available in Indonesian and English. The existing books include; Indonesian folklore, Indonesian art and culture, textbooks, Arabic reading books, and 3 language dictionaries.
With the creation of the Literacy Gazebo, it is hoped that the children of Ndhil Koro village will continue to read not only during events but on an ongoing basis so that more and more people are encouraged to read and the aspirations of the future residents of Ndhil Koro village as an educational village can be realized and achieved.
