Democracy is a system of government that gives voting rights to the people in electing leaders and influencing government policies. Democracy also guarantees freedom of speech and expression as well as other human rights. As a country with a large and diverse population, Indonesia should choose democracy as a system of government
Democracy is the most suitable government system for the Indonesian state because it is in accordance with the basic principles of Pancasila, namely "Belief in One Almighty God, Just and Civilized Humanity, Indonesian Unity, Democracy Led by Wisdom of Wisdom in Representative Deliberations, and Social Justice for All Indonesian People." ". A democratic system is a system that allows the people to participate directly or indirectly in making political decisions.
In addition, democracy can also help achieve social justice for all Indonesian people. Every Indonesian citizen has the same right to obtain equal opportunities in every aspect of life, including in the political field. In a democratic system, the people have the right to vote and elect their leaders, so that everyone has an equal opportunity to influence the direction of government policy.
Democratic systems can also help prevent dictatorship, corruption and abuse of power. With a check and balance mechanism in a democratic system, every political decision must go through approval and supervision from various institutions and parties, so as to create a transparent and accountable system.
However, there are still many obstacles to implementing democracy in Indonesia, such as corruption, money politics and conflicts of interest. Therefore, joint efforts from all elements of society are needed to improve the democratic system in Indonesia and create a more conducive environment for its implementation.
