First of all let me introduce my self. My name is Citra Maila Eka Nur Cahya. You can call me Citra. In this opportunity, I would like present about Laptop. In my present this afternoon, I will cover three major areas.
Firstly, I'il talk about the history of laptop. Secondly, I'il talk about the variants of laptop. Thirdly, I'il talk about the function of laptop.
A laptop is a computer which is easy to carry around. Its user can fold the laptop along its hinge for carrying. The laptop was created mainly for this particular reason. Computer parts were scaled to smaller size so this could happen.
The first laptop was invented in 1979 by British Designer Bill Moggridge. In 1982, two computer designers from Microsoft, Kazuhiko Nishi and Bill Gates, started their discussion concerning a new portable computer. The main thing about the computer was a new LCD technology. A year later the company launched its TRS-80 Model 100, which was a computer that looked pretty much like the laptops we know today.
All the laptops are created different; they vary by size, weight, power, functionalities, the way users can input data, etc. Notebooks, a computer must weigh around 5-8 pounds and thus be portable. Its display ranges from about 13 inches to 16 inches. Ultrabooks, these laptops are thinner and can weigh a mere 3 pounds, but their screen can come in at around 15 inches. Usually their keyboard is smaller. Netbooks, these laptops are very small, inexpensive, less powerful processors and than very small keyboards. This type of computers is still around but they have been upstaged by tablets, which are marketed in an even sleeker package but provide more powerful resources. Tablets, Small, thin multitask laptops which have become very popular. Their displays range from very small monitors to rather big ones.Desktop Laptops, these laptops weigh more (up to 10 pounds, as a rule), and they have larger displays, sometimes as big as 20 inches. They have roomier keyboards.
The function of a laptop with its portability and mobility features has several functions, including:
- Productivity, a person can easily do his work anywhere, even in travel or in other public places.
- Information that is always updated and easy data access, where with a laptop function, one can easily exchange information and data wherever and whenever.
- The smaller size of the computer makes it easy for someone to carry it anywhere and the laptop can also save electricity with its batteries, so that it can still be used when the power goes out.
- Designed like a computer equipped with a keyboard, screen, speakers, and mouse.
