A. Substance and Essence of Educational Management Research 

ConceptsResearch becomes a fundamental foundation in scientific advancement as well as the basis for policy determination in educational management. Without research, educational regulations often emerge based on instinct or tradition, not on information and empirical evidence. Etymologically, research derives from the term research which means "to search again". This means research constitutes systematic activities to identify, verify, and develop knowledge. Within the scope of educational management, research is not only directed to produce theory, but also serves as practical means in formulating strategies, policies, and educational innovations. Thus, research in educational management plays a dual role: building science while improving practice.

B. Functions of Educational Management Research

The function of research is to generate new knowledge, solve problems, and support theory development and better decision-making in various fields such as science, technology, education, and business. Research functions do not only stop at seeking answers to scientific questions, but also encompass theoretical, practical, policy, and academic dimensions. These four dimensions complement each other: from building theory to solving real problems, from supporting evidence-based policies to fulfilling students' academic requirements. One of the main functions of research is enriching the treasury of science. Through research, new theories emerge, concepts are updated, and thinking frameworks are developed according to contemporary demands.

C. Advantages of Educational Management Research

Research possesses several fundamental advantages that make it an important tool in developing science and educational management practice. Research advantages do not only stop at information collection, but also include contributions toward more rational decision-making, evidence-based policy development, and innovation creation relevant to societal needs. One of the main advantages of research is its capability to produce objective and measurable data. This objectivity becomes the distinguishing characteristic of research from personal opinions or assumptions. Thus, research can bridge theory and practice, while ensuring scientific continuity through replication and scientific verification principles.

D. Types of Other Studies Similar to Research according to the format you requested, along with reflection and chapter conclusion (natizah).

Besides research, there are several studies that have characteristics similar to research but differ in purpose and methodology. There are three studies similar to research, namely: evaluation studies, literature review studies, and case studies (non-research case study) & scientific essay/opinion writing. These studies are often used in educational management as part of analysis, reflection, and policy formulation. Understanding the differences between research and other studies is important so that students, practitioners, and academics do not confuse terminology usage, and can position study results proportionally in academic and practical contexts.
