Occupy Wall Street: Gagal di Politik, Sukses di Budaya

Brookings Institution pada 2021 menekankan bahwa warisan terbesar Occupy bersifat kultural. Sebelum itu, ketimpangan ekonomi dianggap topik kering yang banyak berputar di ruang akademik.

Occupy menyeretnya ke ruang publik. Istilah “1 persen” dan “99 persen” masuk ke kosa kata global untuk membicarakan ketidakadilan ekonomi, sebuah pergeseran yang juga dicatat oleh NPR pada 2021.

Kesadaran publik tentang jurang kaya dan miskin naik drastis. Dampaknya masih terasa sampai sekarang.
