Did you know social media addiction not only causes students to lose study time, but it can also affect their mental health? In the digital era, social media has become an essential part of students' lives. They use it not only for learning, but also to find new information and communicate with friends. However, excessive use of social media often has negative effects.

Social media has two impacts on student's : positive and negative, some students use social media properly. For example, as a means to find various information about the world of education, a source of discussion and develop creative ideas related to learning at school. This shows that students have successfully used social media in their daily lives (Munna & Kalam, 2021). Therefore, social media has an important role in facilitating the teaching and learning process for students.

Whereas, the negative impacts include a decline in students' focus on learning, sleep disturbances, addiction to scrolling through social media such as TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Facebook and especially online games such as Mobile Legend, which is currently very popular (Kaya & Bicen, 2016). One of the impacts is that those who are addicted to playing games have developed a bad habit of swearing, not only while playing the games but also in real life. On the other hand, social media also serves as a platform for students to explore business opportunities and online marketing.

There are many applications available for trading or promotion. For example, TikTokshop, Lazada, Shopee, and Tokopedia provide platforms for sellers and buyers. Without the use of social media as a means of marketing, students may find it difficult to access goods that are far away without having to bother going to the location directly. As a result, the use of social media can increase literacy and business opportunities (Grizane & Jurgelane, 2017).

In conclusion, social media has a double impact on students. On one hand, it's really helpful because it makes learning easier and opens up business opportunities. On the other hand, it also has a dark side, like leading to gaming addiction, lower focus in class, and sleep problems. Therefore, it's so important to use social media properly to get the most out of the good stuff and avoid the bad effects.
