Introduction: In academia, particularly in educational management, selecting a research method is a crucial step in determining the quality of research results. Two commonly used approaches are qualitative and quantitative. While both have different paradigms, techniques, and objectives, they are equally important in enriching insight. Quantitative research focuses on objective measurement, while qualitative research emphasizes meaning and experience. Understanding these differences will help researchers choose the right method for their research needs and objectives. I hope that by expressing my ideas through this article, it will be beneficial not only for readers but also for myself. I hope this article will serve as a means to share knowledge, broaden horizons, and serve as a valuable reminder for the future.

First: Quantitative research is rooted in the positivist paradigm, which views reality as objective, fixed, and measurable. This research is deductive, using standardized instruments such as surveys, experiments, or questionnaires. Data is analyzed statistically to identify patterns or cause-and-effect relationships. In educational management, quantitative research is useful for evaluating policies, measuring learning outcomes, and assessing teacher and student performance. Its advantages are objectivity and ease of replication, although it is often considered too reductive due to its lack of social context.

Second: In contrast, qualitative research is grounded in a constructivist paradigm that considers reality to be plural, dynamic, and shaped by social interactions. The researcher acts as the primary instrument, using data collection techniques such as in-depth interviews, observation, and document analysis. Analysis is conducted inductively to discover the meaning contained in participants' experiences. In educational management, qualitative research is relevant for understanding school culture, leadership dynamics, and the experiences of teachers and students. This approach is rich in meaning, although difficult to generalize and requires a long time.

Third: Both approaches have advantages and limitations. Quantitative research excels at producing objective, measurable, and generalizable data, but often ignores context. Qualitative research is strong at exploring meaning and in-depth understanding, but is prone to subjectivity and difficult to test broadly. To address this, mixed-methods approaches have emerged, combining quantitative and qualitative strengths. In educational management, this combination helps provide a more comprehensive picture of policies, programs, and learning practices.

Fourth: The practical implications of selecting a research method are crucial for educational management. Quantitative research is more appropriate for objectively assessing the effectiveness of policies or program outcomes. Qualitative research is suited to examining social phenomena such as school culture, teacher-student interactions, or principal leadership. Meanwhile, mixed-methods research provides more comprehensive research results by combining the power of numbers and narrative. Thus, each approach plays a strategic role in addressing various educational issues.

By understanding the differences between qualitative and quantitative research, researchers can more wisely choose the methods they use. Quantitative research is effective in producing measurable data, qualitative research is strong in presenting meaning, while mixed-methods research offers a combination of both. No method is absolutely better, as research success is determined by the appropriateness of the method to the objectives and context. In educational management research, selecting the right strategy will produce valid, relevant, and beneficial findings for improving educational quality.
