Television is used as a means of mass communication in the form of audiovisual. The characteristics of the communication process used by television are, one-way communication, institutionalized communicators, and messages conveyed by the general public. In Indonesia itself, people's interest in watching television is still very large and can affect people's lives unconsciously, therefore television should be educational, informative, entertaining, and also as a means of social control. In addition, television stations must also pay attention to and comply with the code of ethics in broadcasting.
The soap opera program has become a favorite program for viewers in Indonesia. In fact, everyone has their own favorite soap operas. However, we must still pay attention to whether the program deserves to be shown to a wide audience.
Lately the media world is being enlivened with a lot of controversy in the soap opera entitled " Suara Hati Istri". The main problem of this soap opera is the main character, namely Zahra who is still very young and only 15 years old. Which at a very young age he had to play the role of a young wife. It's a pity, instead of the public getting shows that can educate, instead they get shows that lead to pedophilia and clearly violates many articles in Law 32 of 2002 concerning Broadcasting. Because it has broadcast shows that show indecent scenes, scenes of violence, and do not give examples of good things.
The director in this film should be able to direct it to the positive side, but this soap opera violates Chapter IV regarding the implementation of broadcasting articles 36 paragraphs 1,3,5, and 6. The explanation of the verse is as follows:
1. Broadcast content must contain information, education, entertainment, and benefits for the formation of intellectuality, character, morals, progress, national strength, maintaining unity and integrity, and practicing Indonesian religious and cultural values.
3. Broadcast content is obligated to provide protection and empowerment to special audiences, namely children and youth, by broadcasting the program at the right time, and broadcasting institutions are required to include and/or mention the classification of audiences in accordance with the broadcast content.
5. Broadcast content is prohibited: a. slanderous, inciting, misleading and/or lying; b. highlight elements of violence, obscenity, gambling, abuse of narcotics and illegal drugs; or c. against ethnicity, religion, race, and intergroup.
6. Broadcast content is prohibited to ridicule, demean, harass and/or ignore religious values, Indonesian human dignity, or damage international relations.
Naturally, this soap opera gets a lot of criticism from the public. In fact, more than 50 thousand people have signed a petition to stop the soap opera Suara Hati Istri, reported from CNNIndonesia. In response to this, the authors suggest in the future that all parties involved in making soap operas, especially the creative part, pay more attention to things that will later be worth showing or not in the soap opera scene.
