Childbirth process of a mother is certainly something that cannot be postponed during this Covid-19 pandemic because it is urgent and can be sudden. Health workers must think about how and the right steps regarding safe childbirth procession protocols for mothers giving birth, babies, and accompanying families. Equitable information about the changes in the health protocol must be delivered from the big areas to the small villages, so all people will understand.
Kedawung, Sragen (05/05/2020) - Midwife at the Kedawung II Health Center, Kedawung District, Sragen Regency, Central Java, said that there were some changes in childbirth procedures because of Covid-19. Midwife Maimunah said "After the Covid-19 pandemic there were some new rules in childbirth procession procedures for mutual security".
The Protocol Steps
The new childbirth protocols include: before the patient enters the room tthey must wash hands first at the outside of the room, which is allowed to enter the room is limited to only the patient and only one person who accompany, every patient and who accompany must wear a mask, the health workers make sure if patient have a contact with people who have done long trips or not especially from the Covid-19 red zone, if there is a possibility that the patient has been in contact with a person who is exposed to covid, then the patient will be referred to the Regional General Hospital, but if there is no sign that the patient is not exposed to covid and has been screened, then childbirth procession can be performed in this Puskesmas with the use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) standards.
This new procedure is expected to guarantee the safety of mothers and children, as well as those who assist in the childbirth procession. Hopefully this procedure can help reduce the number of people exposed to Covid-19.
