Edy Supriyono, a young man from Pati, Central Java, never imagined his life would be stranded as it is today. He went to work to the waters of the Caribbean as a Ship's Men (ABK) on board fishing vessels owned by Taiwan for the sake of the hope of getting a better life, as he had heard so far. Instead of getting a living wage, Edy even fooled some money by sponsors PT Bahana Atlantic Ocean (BSA), which has now been closed. Not only that, he also received fake documents seaman books, which means there is no guarantee of protection for him at sea.

During fishing with a fishing boat in trouble, Edy said, he also often forced to work up to 20 hours a day and should not stop working despite being ill. "When my back was also sent home without receiving a salary and become a victim of NGO proposals claiming to care about migrant workers," Edy said through a statement received by CNN Indonesia, Thursday (21/5).

Edy is a kinship with other youth from Cilacap, Agus, who is also a crew of PT BSA. The man said he had never received a salary three years working as a crew. Not only that, compensated by a social reintegration assistance, the international never materialized.

"At that time I and friends were asked to prepare some of the blanks and sign the filing receipt program of Rp 81 million. However, until now, the fund was not well received," said Agus.

Agus states have reported PT BSA to the authorities since 2013 ago to report the crime of trafficking in persons (TPPO). He and fellow crew also has picked up evidence of Syahbandar statement showing ownership seafarers book documents they are not registered in the Ministry of Transportation.

"However, until now the authorities have not been able to catch the perpetrators. I do not know why," said Agus.
