"War may sometimes be a necessary evil, but no matter how necessary, it is always an evil, never good. We will not learn how to live together in peace by killing each other's children: - Jimmy Carter

The Boy in Striped Pajamas is an unusual story, this is one of the most complicated and difficult stories a teen will ever read. Yes, this movie is based on a Novel. It is a fable told through the eye of a child.

The story begin with Bruno left his old house because his father has a new job. His new house is quite far from the city and he has no friend there. He is even forced to get homeschooling.

A little background about Bruno's family, Bruno has a sister named Gretel, but they interested in quite different things which makes Bruno and Gretel cannot be a good friend to one another. His father is a military man and his mother is absolutely a sweet lady.

Bruno is forbidden to explore around his house and his curiosity becomes too much for him to handle. One day, he follow the wire fence cordoning off the area where they live. He met a Jewish little boy named Shmuel and they see each other at the same spot almost everyday ever since.

The next day, Bruno sneak into his father office meeting and see his father presentation and movie about the camp which Shmuel living in. Bruno really think that his father is a really good man. This movie never mentioned the name of the camp but many people believe it is Auschwitz.

From Bruno's innocent point of view, we can see the condition of Shmuel and the other Jewish people who work in Bruno's house. At the time, Bruno might not aware of what is actually happening in his surrounding including the fact that Jews were sent there. The innocence side of Bruno is something that dominates the movie.

Through the movie, we can slowly see the truth about the camp and what actually happens in that camp. Bruno's mother finally finds out and totally disagree about it. She wanted to take Bruno and Gretel back to Berlin. For some reason, Bruno decides to help Shmuel and also explore Shmuel's world at the same day his mother wants to go to Berlin. Bruno finally can see Shmuel's world and that is not something Bruno always think about.

"Those people.. well, they are not people at all, Bruno" - Father

Bruno's father told that when Bruno asked about the camp and who live there. From that we can see a little prespective the Nazis might believe during the genocide. Jewish people were not entitled to basic human rights during genocide. Jewish people including the children were forced to endure long hours of work and not to mention that they were also victims for mostly medical experiment.

"They smell even worse when they burn, don't they?" - Lieutenant Kotler

The ending of this movie is unbelieveable. The Boy in the Striped Pajamas is absolutely one of the most heartbreaking movies that ever exist.

I highly recommended this movie for all of you!
