We live in a society where people judge our value by our skills, knowledge, and achievements. As students, academic validation is of course very important to us. We will make every effort to get many academic achievements. Studying hard is often considered necessary to earn excellent grades. In some conditions it is, however if it becomes excessive it can actually be harmful towards students physically, mentally, and academically.

Overstudying is defined as a situation in which studying are no longer effective or become counterproductive. Yet we can't really determine whether we're studying too much or not, because of the way things are standardized for students. As a result, many students have a hard time developing healthy study habits and know how much studying is too much.

Although we can't really define how much time we should spend studying. Students shall not dedicate above 50% of their spare time to studying. Students who prefer to overstudy need to take breaks every now and then. Still, it may be difficult to remember that taking breaks is essential for preventing overstudying.

What causes overstudying? For some people the term of overstudying might sound absurd. You are perhaps more bothered about understudying. But in this modern era where the world is more and more competitive in an academic sense, overstudying lead to a real threat. The essential reason why overstudying happens is due to pressure put on the student to achieve something excellent. This can either causes by internal or external pressure.

External pressures are primarily societal pressures of what one ought to aspire to be. That also manifests itself in the form of the culture of agitation and the phenomenon where it is fresh to be occupied. Nonetheless, external pressure tends to originate in the immediate environment. This is sometimes done to satisfy others' expectations.

Lastly the interal pressure. Internal pressure can be caused as a form of a harmful competitive mindset. This could also caused as a result of one's greed to succeed.

So what are the signs that you study too much? This was mostly manifested in unstable grades. While this may seem counterintuitive, overstudying does not improve grades and retention, but it does hinder it. Students need adequate time to process the information and sufficient sleep to manage their stress levels to maintain concentration and work effort. Along with heightened levels of anxiety and depression.

Healthy study habits embolden efficiency and productivity that is amusing to do. At the same time some students who study excessively may find it hard to enjoy the process of studying. overstudying exacerbates levels of stress and perpetuates pre-existing mental health problems.

How to avert overstudying? Let's start with time management. Adolescence is the most productive age for humans, but at that time the brain has not fully developed. They still need adult help. The pressure to get academic achievements can sometimes make them feel overwhelmed. Excessive study hours will not be effective for their brains to absorb information.

Then you have to develop healthy learning habits. The development of healthy and productive learning habits takes time. This will lead to better educational achievement and a healthy and sustainable work-life balance.

To sum up, excessive education is unlikely to boost academic achievement, but is more likely to be counter-productive. Prolonged overstudying may become a significant obstacle to student performance and achievement. In addition, excessive study can wreak havoc on the mental and physical health of students by causing extreme fatigue and leading to burnout as a result of increased stress levels and lack of sleep.
