Jakarta, April 23, 2025 – The webinar titled “AI and the Future of Global Digital Business” sparked insightful discussions among aspiring digital business professionals. Featuring two expert speakers, Dr. Toh Pei Sung and Atikah Aulia Putri, the event delved into how Artificial Intelligence (AI) is reshaping the global economy. Hosted online, the session attracted students, professionals, and tech enthusiasts who seek to understand and utilize AI in various industries.

Dr. Toh Pei Sung: Laying the Foundations of Artificial Intelligence

Dr. Toh Pei Sung opened the webinar by providing a comprehensive introduction to Artificial Intelligence, defining it as the science and engineering of creating intelligent machines capable of mimicking human cognition. He emphasized that since its inception in 1956, AI has progressed into a powerful tool combining machine learning, natural language processing, decision-making.

“AI is not just a support system; it’s an active partner in operations,” Dr. Toh stated, underscoring AI’s significance in transforming traditional businesses into data-driven powerhouses. He further outlined five fundamental capabilities of AI: object recognition, language understanding, learning, recommendation, and autonomous actions highlighting their real-world impact.

AI in Action: Practical Implementations and Case Studies

A major focus of Dr. Toh’s presentation was on the strategic application of AI in global business. He described its ability to analyze customer behavior, forecast trends, provide personalized product recommendations, and optimize digital marketing strategies.

Concrete examples such as Alibaba’s FlyZoo Hotel, Domino’s AI-driven ordering system, and Tesla’s predictive maintenance using IoT and robotics brought the discussion to life. Each case study illustrated AI’s role in elevating customer experience and operational efficiency. For instance, Unilever’s cloud-based eB2B platform enables real-time data sharing, while Coca-Cola’s Y3000 drink, co-created with AI, demonstrated AI’s potential in product innovation.
