Asean: Genesis and Growth

If we want to about the history and the journey of ASEAN, We can see at https://asean.org/about-us/ telling that, "The Association of Southeast Asian Nations, or ASEAN, was ertablished on 8 August 1967 in Bangkok, Thailand, with the signing of the ASEAN Declaration (Bangkok Declaration) by the Founding Fathers of ASEAN, namely Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand. Brunei Darussalam then joined on 7 January 1984, Viet Nam on 28 July 1995, Lao PDR and Myanmar on 23 July 1997, and Cambodia on 30 April 1999, making up what is today the ten Member States of ASEAN.  At that time, five leaders -- the Foreign Ministers of Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore and Thailand -- sat down together in the main hall of the Department of Foreign Affairs building in Bangkok, Thailand and signed a document. By virtue of that document, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) was born. The five Foreign Ministers who signed it -- Adam Malik of Indonesia, Narciso R. Ramos of the Philippines, Tun Abdul Razak of Malaysia, S. Rajaratnam of Singapore, and Thanat Khoman of Thailand -- would subsequently be hailed as the Founding Fathers of probably the most successful inter-governmental organization in the developing world today. And the document that they signed would be known as the ASEAN Declaration. The honour Mr. (RIP) Ali Alatas at Seminar on "ASEAN Strategies and Action" at Jakarta, 6 August 1996, he wrote about "ASEAN : Genesis and Growth. He sad that from outset, ASEAN was convinced as a regional association for economic, social and cultural cooperation- and these remain its principal spheres of activities until today. But it was undeniably the convergence in politic outlook among the five original members at that time, their shared convictions on national priority objectives and on how best to secure these objectives in the evolving strategic of East Asia, which imppelled the to for ASEAN.

Now ASEAN with the ten members so how about the growth for the contribution of the prosperity for the people of the members. Pandemic covid19, climate change and net zero emissions can be starting points to make change for the better life of the world. The prosperity approach is the must one to create the peace at The South China Sea around the Ten Members of ASEAN. The honour Mr. Ali Alatas said,"The best way to secure comprehensive security is by developing, separtely and jointly, the political, economic, and social cultural strengths which, apart from a basic military capability, constitute a nation's real capacity to resist any security threat from within or without. This is the esssence of national resilience which, if possessed by each country, could grow into regional resilience, encompassing all ASEAN and eventually all of Southeast Asia.

So, i dream once day at Natuna Island there is ASEAN PARK beside The Natuna Geoprak, as the commitment to remember that we must implement the prosperity for all with the unity actions.
