Does True Friendship Still Exist?

I used to have many friends when I was still a small kid. I still did when I was a teenager. Strangely, the number of my friends went down as I grew up. I don't know why and I guess it's very normal. Many quotes saying that the more we get older, the fewer friends we will have. Is it a kind of maturity? I don't know.

Of course, some people might disagree with it. They probably say that they still have many friends as they get older. The way I see it...it's very outstanding. Seriously. Can maintain the number of friends as we get older is really extra ordinary. As we know, some friends might move to other city or country and then forgotten. Not mention that some friends are toxic so that we prefer to stay away from them.

I never think myself as good in making friends. To be honest, I don't trust people easily. In today society, it might sound relevant...either you agree or not. But it doesn't mean I'm overthinking. I just take carefully measure in doing everything, including making new friends. I'm not perfect and never look for perfection in friends. I just hate to have fake friends or the toxic ones. That's all.

When I was teenager, some of my friends accused me as "too selective" in making friends. Moreover, they also thought I was arrogant or selfish. Actually I just enjoy being with myself. I didn't realize back then that it was a sign of introvert type person. In that case, was my teenager time not fun at all? On the contrary, it was really fun even though I only had few good friends back then. 

Entering the age of 30 and 40, I become more believe in myself. I don't care about the number of friends anymore. I just thought having few friends is better as long as the quality of friendship is good. I also notice that this attitude was normal for people at my age. Like it or not, time has changed and people change too. Being careful in society is certainly better than being careless, right?

I didn't mean to teach you how to make friend. No. I just try to remind myself that people are different. Some have good attitude, some don't. Some people have positive mindset, others don't. But of course, we never think ourselves as better or smarter than other people. Believe in ourselves as well as keep on learning all the time. It's okay to have many friends, just make sure they are good ones. True friendship might still exist, but rare.

As for introvert, be your own best friend forever, okay? You're the only person who knows yourself...haha. It's okay to be alone or staying single as long as it's not against any law or moral ethics.
