What I Would Do to Fight Corona Virus If I were a President (English Essay)

2020, we're in the middle of a global pandemic of the Corona virus that has brought major negative affects such as towards countries' state of health, safety and economy around the world. Every government in countries suffering the pandemic have their own ways in attempting to tackle the spreading of the virus, some may handle it well and some may not. If I were a president, here are some ideas I have in mind that I would propose to fight the pandemic in my country, Indonesia.

Firstly, understanding that if the pandemic becomes worse in my country, it will take a longer time to stop it, which will also worsen the well-being of the people and the whole country itself in general along the way. So for the sake of anticipation, when the virus first hits a part of my country, I would propose an immediate lock down towards the specific area that's been infected while the number of cases are still low. This is of course to prevent the virus from spreading more in that area and most importantly, from spreading towards more parts of the country. Although a lot of people might view this kind of policy as exaggerating, I believe it is always best to take decisions with the lowest rate of risks. To commence the lock down, it should start off with the government of the region publicly announcing to the people that a lock down of the area will happen a few days before it starts, while also encouraging the people to start implementing social distancing in those few days in the announcement. The few days given time is purposed so that the people will have enough time to prepare the supplies they'll need when the lock down of the city happens. Of course, since in these few days the people are going to prepare themselves by going out in public to buy their needs from stores, there's a high chance that there will be lots of panic buying which could cause disorders around, which is why the government should encourage the people to start social distancing, therefore the people will be more considerate and well-ordered when they are out in the public to collect their needs. Other than that, it will also push more people to stay at home and prefer online shopping for their necessities. 

Once the lock down starts, another thing I propose would be testing large numbers of people, as it is the quickest and most effective way of detecting cases. But since it would be in the middle of a city lock down, people can't go visit hospitals or other health offices, and even if a lock down wasn't going on, it would not be a good idea to test large numbers of people in hospitals or any other public health centers either - as any public areas are where infections commonly spread. So, I would establish the government to send out recruits to every neighbourhood in the city to deliver home testing kits, so that a mass testing can be done individually while being isolated in their homes. The testing should be as simple and as quick as using swabs and this is also a very effective method because people can get tested without needing to make an appointment or wait for a queue. Once an individual has received and done their own testing, their samples will be submitted as well as the person's contact address (e.g phone number, email address etc) and will be sent by the recruits to a testing lab. When the a test of a sample has been done, the results shall be sent online through the individual's contact given. If someone got tested positive with the Corona virus, they could schedule an appointment online to get treated and quarantined and recruits will pick them up. 

If I were a president, this is the procedure that I would take to handle the pandemic of the Corona virus. Because, I believe that this method could've cancelled the virus from spreading around the country in time. And knowing how lock downs could severely affect the economic state of developing countries such as Indonesia, I believe the way it is implemented in this method would barely cause any harm as it is done right when the pandemic just reached in certain parts of the country, when the number of cases are still small and hasn't spread nationally, which means a lock down shouldn't take a long time and wouldn't have to be done in a mass scale, but only a few parts that's been infected. In other words, it wouldn't bring major negative affects towards the country.
