Hello, have you ever traveled to the Bandung botanical forest park yet? Never? Let me explain about the botanical forest park in Bandung.

Bandung Botanical Forest Park, commonly known as Ir. H. Djuanda Botanical Forest Park (Tahura Djuanda) is the first botanical forest park in Indonesia located in Bandung City, West Java. Tahura Djuanda has an area of about 526.98 hectares and consists of various types of vegetation, including natural forests, plantations, and plantations.

Tahura Djuanda was originally a protected forest with the name Pulosari Protection Forest. This forest was built by the Dutch East Indies Government in 1912 for water conservation purposes. In 1922, the Dutch East Indies Government built a tunnel to tap the water of the Cikapundung River within this forest. This tunnel is known as the "Dutch Cave".

After Indonesia's independence, the Pulosari Protected Forest area automatically became an asset of the Republic of Indonesia government managed by the Forestry Service. In 1960, West Java Governor Mashudi initiated a Nature Tourism Forest Park as well as a Botanical Garden.

To commemorate the services of a West Javanese figure Ir. H. Raden Djoeanda Kartawidjaja, the 10th Prime Minister of Indonesia who died in 1963, the Urban Forest Park was inaugurated on August 23, 1965 by Governor Mashudi and named the Ir. H. Djuanda Recreational Botanical Garden, which was then managed by the West Java Provincial Forestry Service.

On January 14, 1985, President Soeharto established Tahura Djuanda as a botanical forest park. Tahura Djuanda has become a popular tourist spot in Bandung. It offers a wide variety of recreational activities, such as hiking, cycling, and enjoying the natural scenery.
