When viewed from the theoretical-philosophical interpreter, the character of Hasan Hanafi's left revolutionary thought. As someone who has a strong sense of reality, Hasan Hanafi has a very empirical or down to earth view. As a reformer Muslim he was a cultural bearer who was critical of Islam and a thinker of Islamic civilization. He never made it through philosophy education at Damascus University, Syria. And instead al-Jabiri called for the development of Arabic epistemology with three epistemologies namely Epistemology; Burhani, Bayani, and 'Irfani.

1. Bayani Epistemology

Namely the mindset that comes from texts, ijma', ijtihad and Arabic language science.

2. Burhani Epistemology

What is agreed here is what measures whether or not something is based on human capabilities consisting of human beings and reason with those released from the revelation text that protects the sacred.

3. Epistemology 'Irfani

Namely by including Sufism, discussing Shi'a, esoteric interpretation of the Qur'an, and translating the philosophy of illumination.
