Back to 2013, I was trusted to be Public Relation for my campus annual event, that I cant mention the name in here. This event was commemorated Bahasa Indonesia that was being official on October, 28 1928. My job description was to gather internal divisions and external relation, such as the partner media or event participants.
What difficult was that I experienced at the moment, when a lot of internal divisions were hard to contact for event preparations. Eventually, there were only a few committees that can deal with and wanted to success of this event altogether. At least, I still could handle some good staff and they were corporative kind.
The event was held for three days. Many internal divisions that never showed up and participated before the show finally came to help. My responsibility is to promote this event in order to get many of participants. On the first day, the event was very crowded with enthusiastic participants that desired to meet and greet some famous writers.
Then, the second day turned to a problem that my team and I as the public relation. The bazaar division blamed us because of the lack of buyers for the merchandise on display at the bazaar. Some of my friends who never show up on meetings also blamed me for the problem. Â
I was thinking that the buyer bazaar was totally not my responsibility as a public relation to promote. My responsibility was to gather participants as many as possible. Â And so, I defended for myself and my team who have worked as much as possible even to roving our faculty to promote our show this.
The situation was becoming more serious because of my defense. And then, the bazaar division and my friends beg for my apology and promised to help promoting this event.
On the last day of the event, my team and I were roving campus again for the promotion using speakers. At the night of closing event, it was very crowded by visitors. It was also even barely fit. I was very satisfied to prove that I am able to promote this event so that more participants who did came and were entertained.
I received the title of best division from the chairman of this event. I felt grateful and got a very meaningful lesson, that anything we are doing, do it the best although everyone underestimates us.
