RIP Indonesia's Democracy (Source: Instagram)

Indonesia is a nation full of stories---a great nation that has walked a long and bloody path.

That night, between Thursday and Friday, August 28 to 29, 2025, a demonstration broke out around the Parliament building (DPR). People from all walks of life flooded the streets, demanding justice from those they often call "The People's Representatives."

Of course, by its very name, People's Representatives---even the dullest mind would understand---that they are individuals who represent the people. The People's Representatives are supposed to be the bridge between ordinary citizens and the government. They should be the guardians of the voices they stand for.

So then, are they... the current People's Representatives truly like that?

We know that someone who is frustrated, depressed, or under excessive stress for a long time will eventually experience changes---physically, such as illness, mentally, with disturbances, or in the worst case... death.

A nation that is sick, a nation that is currently suffering, a nation that is not doing well---will experience the same fate if there is no immediate awareness, especially from those entrusted with the mandate to manage this country.

We are annoyed, we are angry, and we are tired of always receiving bad news from those so-called honorable members of the DPR. From corruption, arrogance, to the destruction of democracy---their behavior, which does NOT reflect the role of true representatives, has enraged the people.

The climax came that night, when workers and citizens demanded their rights, and an incident occurred that could ignite an even greater movement. A Baracuda vehicle sped recklessly through the protesters, hitting and crushing an online motorcycle taxi (ojol) driver, leaving him critically injured.

Moments later, news began to spread across various outlets that he had passed away.

What is this?
