The International Conference on Emerging New Media and Social Science (ICEMSS) 2025 brought together students from Universitas Muhammadiyah Sidoarjo (UMSIDA), including those from Communication Science and Public Administration, along with international representatives from BUU Thailand, Tashkent (Uzbekistan), ABS India, and UTAR Malaysia. The event was held at Haris Hotel on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, and featured a series of insightful presentations by leading experts in their fields.
Participants listened to a range of compelling topics. Tuanglab Piamyoosuk from Thailand shared about "Digital Technology that Enhances Life Quality of the Elderly in Saensuk Subdistrict," highlighting how technology can improve well-being for senior citizens. Kenneth Lee Tze Wui, M.Comm from Malaysia, discussed "The Invisible Wars: How Mis/Disinformation is Shaping Asia's Future," focusing on the critical impact of information disorder in the region. Dr. Kirti Dang Longani from India delivered a session on "Branding Identity," exploring strategies for building strong personal and organizational brands. Prof. Bobur Sobirov from Uzbekistan presented "Welcome to the Borderless Digital Era," emphasizing the opportunities and challenges of digital transformation in today's global society. Lastly, Dr. Anurat Anatanatorn from Thailand spoke about "Digital Transformation and Local Governance for Developing Community Economies in Thailand," underlining the importance of digital innovation for local government and economic development.
A highlight of the seminar was the "Best Paper" award, given to students from both UMSIDA and international universities for outstanding thesis writing. Annisa Fadhilatur, a recipient from UMSIDA, shared her motivation, saying, "The key is not to be lazy and always remember your target. I was also inspired by the Korean boy band EXO."
The event concluded with a friendly gathering, fostering cross-cultural connections among participants. Venky, a delegate from ABS India, expressed his appreciation for the seminar, stating, "(It was very huge program all the arrangements, were best and more of the things i came to learn over here about AI technology whatever the panelist. We are speaking about that, it was some topics were new for me. As certain politicial critism, that also was a new topic for me and i think everybody something or something. They have learned from this program. And my message is for your university, conduct every year same program. Will follow the same culture and same event. Thank you)."
