On World Environment Day, June 5, 2022, BEM UPNVJ and the Jakarta Mangrove Community planted 110 Rhizophora mangrove plants and disseminated 200 fish and shrimp seeds apiece throughout the Cisadane River Estuary in Tangerang. Bank BNI also contributed to the event, which had a Mangrovenesia theme with the tagline "Keep my Country, Cultivate the Mangrove Spirit".
According to Bilal Sukarno, Chairman of the BEM UPNVJ, this environmental care activity aims to promote awareness of the need of conserving the environment. "We are actually merely living on our lovely Earth, which is coughing more and more (damaged). Who else but ourselves wants to look after our planet? As a result, I hope that my friends will always cherish our Earth and be environmentally conscious after participating in this activity. So that we always have an attitude of awareness to safeguard the world in the depths of our souls," he explained.
In agreement with Bilal Sukarno, founder of the Jakarta Mangrove Community, Paundra Hanutama stated that environmental knowledge should be the first pillar in taking care of our planet. Use stakes or ropes made from dried water hyacinth plant stems for this planting task. Paundra also added, “We will use natural straps to minimize the use of plastic straps. Because it is made of natural materials, this rope will not harm the environment.”
The head of the AKPK bureau, Mrs. Dra. lntan Hestiana, M.M. participated in the planting activity with the hope that the younger generation can protect our earth by conserving mangroves and disposing of waste in its place. Because this waste is a widespread problem, the Head of the AKPK bureau is also worried and always reminds him to always throw garbage in its place.
