My Unforgettable Trip to Mount Bromo

Last year, during the school vacation, my friends and I went on an unforgettable trip to Mount Bromo in East Java. It was my first time visiting a mountain, and I felt both nervous and excited. We had been planning this trip for weeks. We left Surabaya at night by car and arrived in Cemoro Lawang, a small village near Bromo, early in the morning. The air was very cold, and the fog covered the road, making the atmosphere feel magical. Even though I was shivering, I couldn't wait to see the sunrise that everyone always talked about.

Events

At around 3:00 a.m., we started our journey to the viewpoint on Mount Penanjakan to see the sunrise. We rode in a jeep with other tourists. The road was steep and bumpy, but the view of the stars in the clear sky made the trip worth it. When we arrived, we waited in the cold with a cup of hot coffee in our hands. Slowly, the dark sky began to turn orange, and the sun started to rise behind the mountains. It was the most breathtaking sunrise I had ever seen. Everyone took pictures, and I just stood there, amazed by the beauty of nature.

After enjoying the sunrise, we went down to the sea of sand, known as "Pasir Berbisik." The vast desert-like landscape looked unreal, and the wind made a whispering sound, which was why it was called that. We rented horses to reach the stairs leading up to the Bromo crater. Riding a horse through the cool morning air felt like an adventure movie. When we finally reached the top of the crater, I could smell the sulfur and hear the roaring sound from inside the volcano. Standing there and looking into the crater made me realize how powerful nature truly is.

Later, we explored a nearby spot called "Teletubbies Hill." The hills were covered in green grass and looked just like the ones in the children's TV show. We took so many photos and laughed together. Around noon, we returned to our homestay to rest and enjoy a warm meal. The local people were friendly and served delicious traditional food, like fried noodles and hot tea, which helped us recover from the cold mountain air.

The next morning, we packed our bags and prepared to go home. Even though I felt tired, I was so happy. The trip to Mount Bromo was one of the best experiences of my life. I had never imagined that watching a sunrise could be so emotional and beautiful. I also learned how important it is to appreciate and protect nature because it gives us unforgettable moments like this.

I promised myself that I would come back one day, maybe with my family, to experience that magical sunrise again. Mount Bromo will always hold a special place in my heart as the place where I felt the true beauty of Indonesia's nature. See you.
