In various industries, such as business, government, and education, management is a crucial activity. Core values including sustainability, equity, efficacy, and efficiency are reflected in management philosophy. As businesses become more complex, management theories change to meet their needs. Addressing global issues in education, such as improving teaching, integrating technology, and the impact of politics and policies, requires an understanding of management principles.Discussion
First, Management Theory and Philosophy in a Global Setting; The values and concepts underlying management serve as the foundation for decision making. Effectiveness, sustainability, equity, and efficiency are part of management philosophy. From Classical Theory (Taylor, Fayol, Weber) that emphasizes work efficiency to Behavioral Theory (Mayo, Maslow, McGregor) that emphasizes the human element, management theory has evolved into Modern Theory that is more flexible and adaptive (Systems, Contingency, Total Quality). These ideas serve as the foundation for efficient management while facing the difficulties presented by dynamic companies.
Second, Basic Principles of Management; Effectiveness and efficiency are achieved by businesses through the application of fundamental management concepts. Henri Fayol developed 14 concepts, such as discipline to ensure compliance, balance of authority and responsibility, and division of labor to increase productivity. Confusion can be avoided by maintaining unity of command and direction, and group interests should take precedence over the interests of one person. Good coordination is supported by the concepts of scalar chain, centralization, and fair compensation. Organizations can become more structured and achieve their goals more effectively by applying these concepts in practice.
Third, Strategic Issues in Global Education Management; Global education management faces many challenges. Improving the quality of teaching and creating relevant curricula are two of the main concerns. Education systems must adapt to the integration of technology and shifting labor market demands as a result of globalization. Furthermore, managing education funding is a critical component that requires efficient budget planning and implementation. School systems can respond more effectively to global issues with a comprehensive and flexible approach.
Fourth, Politics and Policy in Islamic Education Management; Islamic education in Indonesia is heavily influenced by politics and policy. National policies did not prioritize Islamic education during the New Order era. Nevertheless, the Reformation brought adjustments that made the national system more tolerant of Islamic teaching. The growth of Islamic educational institutions is greatly influenced by government policies, especially those related to administration and curriculum. Therefore, managing Islamic education to ensure it remains relevant and advanced requires an understanding of political and policy issues.
Management is based on philosophy, theory, and basic principles that continue to develop to adapt to global challenges. In education, challenges such as teaching quality, technology integration, and financing require adaptive strategies. Meanwhile, in Islamic education, political policies play a major role in determining the direction of its development. Therefore, a good understanding of management and policy is essential so that the education system can run effectively and adaptively to changes in the times.
