Who is Prophet Muhammad? He is the messenger who brought Islam and spread it to the whole world. So, to fully understand who he is, let us hear his story of sadness and prosperity. Â
In some Sirah Nabawiyah, Prophet Muhammad SAW was informed to be born in Mecca 12th Rabi'ul Awal, the year of the Elephant, which dated back to the year of 570 AD, right when the army with elephants, led by king Abraha, tried to invade Mecca.Â
Then, suddenly, birds with hot coals (many people think they got them from hell) dropped them on the army, ending the invasion. Prophet Muhammad's parents were Abdullah bin Abdul Muttalib and Aminah bint Wahab. Abdullah was a merchant who often travelled to the land of Syria.Â
However, Abdullah passed away when Aminah was pregnant with Muhammad for two months. Thus, Muhammad was born without ever being able to meet his father. After his birth, Muhammad was handed over to Halimah Sa'diyah for breastfeeding. During ancient times, the Arabs had a habit of letting village women breastfeed their children. It was intended that their children grew up in a rural environment, where the air was still clean.
Prophet Muhammad also then lived with his mother in the village of Bani Saad for four years. Then at the age of six, his mother also passed away. After this, Prophet Muhammad was taken care of by his paternal grandfather, Abdul Muthalib. Then, two years later, at the age of eight, his grandfather passed away.
Since then, Prophet Muhammad SAW was taken care of by his uncle named Abu Thalib, who was one of the high-class rankings of the Bani Hasyim family. Prophet Muhammad SAW also often went to trade to Sham with his uncle. Growing up, prophet Muhammad married Siti Khadijah. Siti Khadijah is a woman who is beautiful and comes from a group that is respected in Arabia. They got married when prophet Muhammad was 25 years old, and Khadijah was 40 years old.
Prophet Muhammad also contributed to the unity of the Mecca people by placing the Hajar Aswad in the Ka' bah at the age of 30 years old. Then, he received a revelation at the age of 40. After receiving his revelation from Allah, the prophet Muhammad began to do da'wah. At first, the da'wah was done in secret for years, but then he did it openly, so people tried to stop it in every possible way, many attempts to murder, bribe, and even exchange religions!
Prophet Muhammad SAW died at the age of 63 years. He was sick for some days; his body temperature was high, and he finally let out his last breath. And that was his incredible story.
The moral is never to give up hope; even after events that put you down, you must get up and be strong because, in the end, the good days will always come.
