Innovation in Islamic Religious Education is an urgent need in facing the dynamics of the era that continues to develop, both in terms of science, technology, and socio-cultural challenges. This renewal effort is not only limited to creating new methods, but also a systematic process to solve educational problems creatively and relevantly, both at the institutional and national levels. By prioritizing an original, useful, and easy-to-implement approach, educational innovation is expected to be able to improve the quality of learning, expand access to religious education, and bridge the gap in mastering modern science. Through structured models, strategies, and processes, Islamic Religious Education innovation is directed to create positive, sustainable and meaningful changes, by involving all parties in the transformation process.
First, the basic concept of Islamic Religious Education innovation; includes innovation management as a systematic process in solving educational problems through a new, original, and useful approach, both at the institutional and national levels. Effective innovation has superior characteristics compared to previous methods, according to user needs, can be tested, the results are visible, and easy to implement. The principle of innovation begins with an analysis of existing opportunities, starting from small ideas that have a big impact, is conceptual, and is directed to lead positive change in the world of education. The goals and objectives are to improve the quality of the education system, expand access to learning, and catch up in the fields of science and technology in a sustainable manner.
Second, the Educational Innovation Model; is a gradual process that starts from awareness of the existence of a new idea to its application in the education system, with different times and readiness for each individual or organization. The first stage is invention, namely the emergence of a new idea or method that can be an adaptation of an existing one or a significant update. Furthermore, the development stage is carried out through research to perfect the idea so that it is ready to be applied widely and effectively. After that, innovation enters the diffusion stage, namely the process of spreading ideas from their source to end users. The last stage is adoption, where individuals or groups accept and apply the innovation until it becomes part of the existing education system.
Third: Three innovation strategies according to Kennedy include; Coercive Strategy which relies on power and forces innovation without involving implementers, so it tends to be ineffective. Empirical Rational Strategy is based on common sense and a scientific approach; innovation is adjusted to real conditions and practical experience, so it is more acceptable. Normative Re-educational Strategy emphasizes changes in attitudes, values, and understanding through a repeated education process. This strategy focuses more on building awareness and involvement of implementers, with the goal of sustainable and meaningful innovation in the context of education.
Fourth: Innovation process; starting from the knowledge stage, where someone is aware of the innovation and wants to know its function. Furthermore, at the persuasion stage, a positive or negative attitude towards innovation is formed based on feelings. At the decision stage, individuals determine to accept or reject the innovation. If accepted, the innovation is then applied in practice at the implementation stage, which depends on the availability of facilities. The last stage is confirmation, where the decision is strengthened or withdrawn. In the school environment, innovation is carried out in stages starting from awareness, forming a positive attitude, decision making, to coaching and implementing innovation as a whole.
