Loving too much ??

There is real love and then there is obsession. These are two entirely different things.  No greater love hath no man, than he who will lay down his life, for his friends. True love means, you love something more than you do your own self. Many times people become so infatuated with someone, they confuse love and obsession. In my opinion there is no such thing as loving too much.

The very word obsession is defined as:
A persistent disturbing preoccupation, with an often unreasonable idea or feeling. The word obsess means to preoccupy intensely or abnormally.

The word love is defined in my dictionary as:
Self giving, a loyal concern, freely accepting another person and seeking only for their good.

Another word for love is charity. Do not confuse lust or infatuation with true love. There is a big difference.
Love is kind. Love does not envy. Love is not puffed up.  Love is not easily provoked. Love does not think evil.  Love bears all things and hopes in all things. Love endures all things. Love never fails and yet never ends.

Relationships often start with a strong sexual attraction. This sexual infatuation can turn into an all consuming lust. The lust becomes so deep rooted, before long it is out of control. Lust can and many times will over rule and take over good and natural emotions. Lust can cause extreme jealousy. It can also cause very cruel and unkind behavior. This same lust can trigger mean and vicious acts of anger and aggression. I assure you, this is not true love.

Love is free and giving, it comes from deep within. I encourage young people to look for a more spiritual love. Beauty fades... People and circumstances change. Money is fleeting. Physical appearances and needs, all change with age. True love continues on in the face of all these changes of time. As we age wrinkles set in, our hair changes from glossy colors to gray and white. Teeth become yellowed and may decay. The old saying goes; "Beauty is only skin deep".  So look for inner beauty... Beauty that does not fade.

A oneness with a partner that can stand the test of time. A preoccupation with someone you are attracted to is not always love. True love is kind and hard to find. As a mother looks after her child and tends it's every need. From messy diapers to sitting up patiently, at all hours of the night. Cleaning up after a long bout of sickness... Never minding the cost.

This my friend is an example of true love. To bear another persons burdens and carry their burdens. Loving them more, all the while. True love is out there. But be patient and wise. Deceive not yourselves. Find someone you can trust and pray with. One who will share your hopes and dreams. In matters of the heart, listen to your inner voice. Take it seriously then you can finally make the right choice. Remember, there is no such thing as loving someone too much.
