Lately there has been a phenomenon that shake the world and countries have been seeking the solution to this phenomenon. This phenomenon is a deadly disease that has been occurring all around the globe, and that disease is called Covid-19. Covid-19 is a disease caused by a virus of family coronavirus, patient with coronavirus will have symptoms of fever, cough, shortness of breath, etc. It is declared as a pandemic (disease that spread over a large area, affecting many people at the same time) on 11 March.

It is known to be dangerous because of how new the virus is and how fast and easy it can spread. With those reason the Indonesia government have done some things to control the spreading of coronavirus like apply social distancing, doing rapid test in some region, etc. What's more to boost the concern is that Indonesia has one of the highest death rate of the Covid-19 disease - with cases reaching 2491, recovered 192, and death 209 (per 6 April 2020).

So if I were a president, what would I do to fight the Covid-19 ?

First of all, some things that have been applied will be continued, like social/physical distancing, rapid test and others. With social/physical distancing and its specifics (work from home, online school, etc), it can reduce the rate of spreading. Then with rapid test and any other test, it can quickly find those who are infected with the virus and handle it quickly. But with just that, it will not be enough.

Secondly, if I were a president, I would like to ask the help of China. As the Covid-19 is first found in Wuhan, China, the government of China has been doing great in controlling the disease, seeing how rate of new cases has been decreasing lately. The help can be in form of medical and other necessary staffs, medicines and vitamins to slow the spreading of the disease in the body, test supplies (as Indonesia have quite the quantity problem) and hygienic supplies - like mask, hand sanitizer and other products. The Indonesia government can also learn how China take approach on handling this, with its facial -recognition software, checking where have they been and their contagion risk.

Then, if I were a president, I would also apply a national lockdown, not internationally. If that happened that people would be in a quarantine on their own home until the condition get better, resulting in a lower spreading rate and decrease in new cases. People will not be able to get anywhere easily, but supplies will still be able to be imported.

And lastly, if I were a president, I would do an allocation of budget. During this time of Covid-19, some things or programs that have been planned will be discontinued for a while or even worse will not happen. With the budget not going anywhere, used in the programs, it is better to allocate it in another more urgent and important area, thus the Covid-19 pandemic. With the allocation of budget, the country will have more supplies to help people who are infected.

So, those are some things that I would do if I'm the president. I'm sure that the Indonesia government have been trying really hard in handling this phenomenon. So, as a law-abiding citizen, all that we can do is support anything right that the government has given (like notice and warnings) by doing what is told. That is all I have to say, thank you.
