Analysis of The Acceleration Digital Character Education For Ahmad Dahlan University Students

Abstract

This causes the digital world to skyrocket.  This presents its challenges in the world of education.  Education in Indonesia has not been evenly dominated by digital technology.  While the benchmark of a country is said to be a developed country, one of which is a high level of digitalization.  Therefore, the importance of accelerating digital character education must be declared.  The research that we will do is a study of various strategies for accelerating education based on digital Artikel character for UAD students.  In this study, we took samples from several UAD students.  We conducted this research with a qualitative approach, namely by describing the results we obtained while conducting research among students.  As a result, from the research that we conducted, digital character education needs to be done to welcome society into the digital era and support the realization of a digitally capable society.  Several strategies that can be carried out in accelerating digital character education are the provision of supporting digital facilities, digital facilities trainers that have been provided, and the development of the use of digital facilities.  With several existing strategies, it is expected to increase the acceleration of digital character education among students.

INTRODUCTION

Today we[A1] feel the impact of globalization. Moreover, the rapid development of digital technology makes work easier. Work that was originally done manually has now been replaced by digital technology. The proliferation of digital technology developments has caused the world to become completely digital.[A2] Indeed, the truth about this change has been acknowledged and cannot be avoided. Or it can be said that following the digital flow has become a demand. One of the benchmarks for a developed country today is based on the level of development of digital technology in a country. If a country does not follow the flow of digital technology development, then a country can certainly be left behind with other countries. Advances in digital technology have given birth to the ease of doing work and causing distance to seem non-existent because it is easy to interact even though they are far apart.

The rise of the flow of technological development along with the development of digital technology has positive and negative impacts in it. One of the positive impacts is facilitating work and communication. While the negative impact is that with the easy flow of technology, a lot of culture has entered the country of Indonesia. [A3] Sometimes the culture deviates from Indonesian culture. This means that the culture that enters along with the development of technology is not in accordance with the personality of the Indonesian nation. [A4] Therefore, this is where character education is needed. This character education has a wide scope. To form character education is not easy. There needs to be awareness from each individual and also help from others such as parents and teachers. The existence of this digital technology can actually also be used to increase the character value of every citizen. One of them is by utilizing existing digital technology, especially for millennials. Students and students [A5] who tend to have a high intellectual level.

RESEARCH METHOD

The type of research that we use in conducting this research is a descriptive qualitative approach. The results of our research are in the form of facts from research in the field. We chose the descriptive method because this method can explain in detail and depth accompanied by data from the field. So that later it will provide information with quality to high validity. So we can conclude that the qualitative approach method we use in conducting research is in accordance with the data needs that are the objectives of our research.[A6]

RESULTS AND DISCUSSION

This study aims to determine the use of digital as a support for character education. Where as the sample are 4th semester students of Ahmad Dahlan University from several different majors. The data we use is primary data taken from the results of a questionnaire on several students.

  • This research was conducted at Ahmad Dahlan University in Yogyakarta, D.I.Y Yogyakarta. The following is an overview of Ahmad Dahlan University as the campus where we conduct research:
  • VISION :
  • UAD's vision is to become a superior and innovative university, serving the interests of the nation and mankind, inspired by Islamic values.
  • MISSION :
  • UAD has a mission to:
  • Implementing AIK values in all aspects of activities;
  • Advancing science, technology and the arts through education, research, and community service;
  • Establish and develop equal cooperation and collaboration at local, national and international levels; and
  • Implement good university governance.

DESTINATION

UAD aims to realize:

  • Appreciation and practice of AIK values for all academic and technical community members;
  • Mastery of science, technology and art that are beneficial to human life;
  • Mutually beneficial strategic cooperation with national and international partners;
  • Independent, effective, efficient, transparent and accountable universities; and
  • A prosperous life for the academic, technical and human community.

The basic values of behavior to realize the vision, mission, and goals as referred to in paragraph (1), paragraph (2) and paragraph (3) include:

  • Professional; and
  • Dedicated
  • Description of Research Data
  • The answers to the questionnaires that have been collected are then analyzed to find out a description of the use of digital for character education. In this case the analysis used is descriptive analysis. Digital utilization data for character education was taken through questionnaire answers with 3 questions and 12 respondents. Based on the answers from some of the students, the following data were obtained:
  • Digital applications that are used as educational media at Ahmad Dahlan University
  • Zoom meetings
  • Google meetings
  • E-Learning
  • Free Wi-Fi
  • UAD TV
  • How to use digital technology to support character education at UAD.
  • Based on the results of the study, the data we get are as follows:

  • Where 8.3% answered that the use of digital technology at UAD was still lacking. Then 41.7% answered that it was enough. Then followed by a very adequate answer with a value of 50%.
  • Effective use of digital technology at UAD
  • Based on the results of the study, the data we get are as follows:

  • As many as 25% chose less and so did Enough, which was 25%. Then as many as 50% of students said it was very effective enough.
  • Student Satisfaction in digital learning carried out at UAD
  • Based on the results of our research, the following data were obtained:

  • As many as 16.7% of students said they were not satisfied, then 25% of students said they were quite satisfied. Then 58% of students said they were very satisfied with digital learning at Ahmad Dahlan University.
  • Character education through digital can develop the potential of UAD students

  • Based on the results of our study, it was found that 16.7% of students said less, then 25% said enough. And as many as 58.3% of students said it was very enough.

  • The existence of Digital or Technology Applications used in Learning Activities at Ahmad Dahlan University Academic Year 2021-2022
  • Based on our research, it shows that Ahmad Dahlan University has used digital facilities. Both applications and includes those provided by the campus such as free WiFi or E-Learning.

In their learning activities, Ahmad Dahlan University students have used several applications, including Zoom meetings, Google meetings, including websites created by UAD itself such as UAD Portal, E-Learning, and informative websites such as SIMERU, Reglab, or others. Especially during the pandemic, lecture activities are carried out online, of course, the same through digital applications.

With the existence of information technology in the world of education, it can break down the distance between teaching staff and students. Information technology offers cyber teaching or virtual teaching, where the teaching process is carried out via the internet. Now there are many websites that are engaged in the realm of cyber teaching. With this technology there is no longer any excuse not to learn.

In the development of technology that is growing very rapidly, it is accompanied by the emergence of equipment and applications that are very easy to learn and use as learning media. Technological tools that are very familiar among the public are gadgets that have many application features that are easy to use in finding learning information, in gadgets they already have many social media applications that can be used in finding learning materials and are very easy to operate. With very easy access to technological developments through the internet network, science is very easily accessible and disseminated, even with the help of this technology educators and students are able to apply learning without carrying out face-to-face or using online applications.

  • Digital Technology has a Great Influence on Character Building
  • Based on this research, students have united the digital world with the world of education. This means that education cannot be separated from digital technology. The existence of digital technology makes it easier for students as facilities and infrastructure in the educational process. The benefits of digital technology include:
  • Make it easy for students to find lecture information and other academic and non-academic activities.
  • Make it easier for students to manage time in learning activities during lectures.
  • Make the learning system more strategic and orderly.
  • With technology-based learning, students can be better trained to enter the digital world of work in this era or later.

In addition, students are very comfortable and tend to like things that don't bother them, such as meeting important meetings, collecting assignments, or contacting lecturers and classmates.

Global demands require the world of education to always and constantly adapt technological developments to efforts in improving the quality of education, especially adjusting its use for the world of education, especially in the learning process.

Digital technology can also be useful for changing human behavior, including education and students, in finding, collecting, documenting, processing and re-transferring teaching materials as needed. Mixing teaching materials in the learning process with digital technology can be more interesting and provide learning motivation, because mixing teaching materials is not monotonous in text, but can be mixed more creatively and interestingly because it combines images, audio, video and animation, so that it can affect changes in learning behavior. develop better.

Advances in technology and information media have been felt by almost all levels of society, both in terms of positive and negative aspects of their use. This is because accessing information media and technology is classified as very easy or affordable for various groups, both for young people and parents and the rich as well as the lower middle class. Even in general, currently children aged 5-12 years are the most users of technology. Therefore, it is not surprising that the positive impact of the development of information media and technology for children aged 5 to 12 years is said to be the multitasking generation.[A7]

CONCLUSION

The use of digital technology as a support for character education carried out at Ahmad Dahlan University has been going well.  Digital Technology Has a Great Influence on Character Building because digital technology makes it easier for students as facilities and infrastructure in the educational process.  but on the other hand, global demands require the world of education to always and continuously adapt technological developments with efforts to improve the quality of education.  So that in character building, students are also required to be able to develop in accordance with the acceleration of technological development.  In addition, the influence of digital technology can also be useful for changing human behavior, because mixing teaching materials in the learning process with digital technology can be more interesting and provide motivation to learn so that it can influence changes in learning behavior so that it can develop better.[A8]
