Madiun – Following the celebration of Eid al-Adha 1446 H, beef sales at the Pasar Besar (Main Market) of Madiun City have experienced a significant decline. However, the selling price of beef remains stable at IDR 120,000 per kilogram.
According to several vendors, this trend occurs every year after Eid al-Adha, as the supply of sacrificial meat in people's homes increases. This causes most consumers to be reluctant to buy meat at the market.
“After Eid like this, it's usually quiet because people still have their own meat stock at home,” said Astri (36), a beef vendor at Pasar Besar, on Tuesday (June 14).
Although daily sales have decreased, the vendors said they can still rely on demand from events such as weddings and thanksgiving gatherings to make up for the drop in regular buyers.
“Thank God there are still some orders for events, so sales aren’t completely empty,” she added.
The vendors also stated that they are not facing any difficulties in obtaining meat supplies from distributors. In fact, the current meat supply is considered very abundant.
