Why The King's Avatar is a Great Novel

E-sports players, it's the dream of many young boys and girls who like to play games. What is e-sports you ask? It's short for electronic sports, basically a competitive sports scene about playing video games. Many young boys and girls, teenagers, young adults, and even working adults themselves wish to become e-sports player, who works and earn money by playing video games competitively. Doesn't it sound fun to be working and earning a living by playing video games that you love all day long? That is exactly what Ye Xiu, the main character of The King's Avatar (TKA) novel does for a living. However, what do you think will happen when an e-sports star like him who's supposed to lead a team to win match after match, to reach the glorious title of the champion, starts to perform below average and cause more and more losses in their team matches? This is the story of a washed-up e-sports king who will fight back in order to regain the throne that he rightfully deserves.

TKA in its entirety can be divided into three parts. The first part is the beginning. The beginning talks about how Ye Xiu was kicked out of his old team, Excelent Era (EE), with nothing to do. This part of the novel talks about the struggles of the retired king in trying to start anew without having anything at all. His struggles of working as a PC cafe worker, low wages, bad living conditions, having to work the night shift and having a bad sleep schedule, and many others. It shows the struggles of a washed-up athlete who's past their prime but still wants to be part of the scene. This happens because he didn't like to be in the public's eyes when he was still in his prime. No one ever sees his face in public and so no one recognizes Ye Xiu when he retired with nowhere to go. 

The second part happens after Chen Guo, the PC cafe owner founds out that Ye Xiu is actually her idol who had retired. The story starts to develop more toward gaming and e-sports. It talks about how guilds are the foundation of e-sports teams and why they are important, how Ye Xiu starts to look for teammates to bring to the scene as well as making a guild for his team's foundation. A big problem during this part of the story is when Ye Xiu's old teammates from EE keep harassing him in the game, trying to stop him from getting back into the scene, which results in this team being relegated and kicked out of the scene themselves. This results in a conflict where Ye Xiu's new team has to fight EE if they want to make their way into the e-sports scene. This was a great way for the author to introduce the e-sports scene in their world to the readers too. 

The last part happens after Ye Xiu and his team manages to claw their way into the scene. This is where the real TKA experience begins. The story talks about how Ye Xiu and his team have to fight against a multitude of other professional e-sports teams in order to win the championship. It's a story about how other teams are different, and unique in their own characters, how they fight and have their own stories as well. This part has many more characters expanded in their storyline. We'll get to go through the journey of how Ye Xiu, this washed-up athlete, manages to create a new team from the ground up, and how they claw their way back up to the top, as well as the stories of the struggles of the other teams who are in the e-sports scene as well.

TKA is a great novel with lots of characters with their own distinct personalities and back ground stories, as well as many great fight scenes and interesting plot lines, which in my opinion is why TKA is a great novel that is worth your time to read.
