Last year, I visited Tangerang's Old Market during the Eid al-Fitr holiday, on April 15, 2024. I visited with my family. Tangerang's Old Market is a historic area and popular culinary center in Tangerang City, Banten, known for its traditional and contemporary cuisine, as well as its heritage-inspired buildings. The market is located on Jalan Kisamaun, near Tangerang Station and the Benteng Heritage Museum. Tangerang Old Market is open every day from 5 pm to 10 pm. The journey from Jakarta was quite long. When I went there, I rode a motorcycle with my family and used Google Maps for directions. However, in the future, it's better to take the train because the journey is easier, faster, and closer.
After arriving at the market, my family and I immediately hunted for food, because there were various kinds of very delicious and interesting foods that caught our attention. We were so excited to try all the different dishes that the market had to offer. The first food we bought was spring rolls, which were absolutely delicious. Spring rolls are foods that use spring roll skin and are filled with bean sprouts, eggs, and jicama that have been cooked beforehand. The combination of crunchy and savory flavors was perfect. We enjoyed every bite of it. Next, the second place we visited was the mochi food stall. Mochi is a chewy textured food that comes in various flavors. I bought cookies and cream flavor, which was amazing. Inside the mochi, there was oreo cream and on top, there was an oreo topping. The price was 16,000 rupiah per piece, which was quite affordable. I loved the texture and the flavor of the mochi, it was so good. After that, I bought cinnamon rolls filled with chocolate jam. The taste was sweet and matched perfectly with the texture of the crunchy outside and soft inside. The size of the cinnamon rolls was also large, and the price was 40,000 rupiah per piece. Although it was a bit pricey, it was worth trying. The cinnamon rolls were freshly baked, and the aroma filled the air, making us even hungrier. Then, I also bought Japanese shuffle pancakes, which were a great deal for 25,000 rupiah. For that price, you could get 2 pieces with a variety of topping choices. The pancakes were soft and fluffy, and the toppings added a nice touch to the flavor. We enjoyed every bite of the pancakes, and the price was very reasonable. Lastly, I bought chicken steak, pancong cake, and iced tea to complete our meal. The chicken steak was cooked to perfection, and the pancong cake was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The iced tea was refreshing and helped to quench our thirst after walking around the market. These foods were very delicious, and the price was quite affordable. Not only the food I mentioned, but there were still many other foods that you could try, and we couldn't wait to come back and try more.
My trip was incredibly enjoyable and rewarded with the delicious food at Tangerang's Old Market. Every bite I took brought me to the pinnacle of satisfaction. I still remember the distinctive aroma of the food and the simple yet appetizing presentation. I felt incredibly happy, and this trip was one I will never forget. Furthermore, traveling with my family added to the sense of close harmony. We all enjoyed time together, sharing stories, and laughing together. Moments like these are priceless and cannot be measured in material terms. I felt incredibly fortunate to have a family that always supports me and creates beautiful memories together. This trip has filled my heart with happiness and memories I will always cherish. I hope to one day return to Tangerang's Old Market and relive the delicious food and the warmth of family.
