As a child, we are often asked about what our ideals are, and most of us want to be doctors. Yes, doctors are indeed a profession that is always coveted by most of the children in this country. When we are asked about what work is related to health, surely the doctor will come to mind. This is not to blame, for this view has been ingrained in the eyes of the people.
When I was admitted to a pharmacy faculty, a splendid village, some asked, "What is a pharmacy? if people graduate there can work what? "Some people replied," The pharmacy is working as a pharmacy guard ". This is our general view of pharmaceuticals, and it is precisely this that makes pharmaceuticals in the eye. Is there a pharmacy in pharmacy guard department? Is it true that one who works, sits down and sells medicine is the work of a pharmacist? the answer is, it is a small possibility of work that a pharmacist can do.
Pharmacy, not just about drugs. Pharmacy is not just about translating a doctor's prescription. This view is what needs improvement in society. Pharmacy is a discipline that not only deals with how to make drugs, but there are so many possibilities that a pharmacist can do. In addition to making and dispensing drugs, other works that can be produced by a pharmacist is cosmetics, or processed products, such as foods, beverages or health materials such as soap, toothpaste, and so on.
Is pharmacist only in the scope? The answer is no, a pharmacist, also required to be able to analyze the disease like a doctor. Why ? because without knowing what causes or where the occurrence of a disease, a pharmacist may not even make a drug, but make a poison.
Are pharmacists only in the two scopes? no, a pharmacist, is also required to do research like a scientist. Why ? because without doing a research, of course, a pharmacist will find it difficult to find ingredients to make dosage forms.
However, if we look at the reality, people in Indonesia already look at the pharmacist as a second energy after the doctor. It is evident from the perception of people who view pharmacists as the ones who translate the prescriptions of the doctors, the people who prepare the drugs, and the most common people view the pharmacist as a "pharmacy guard". It is this view that degrades mentally and makes other people's views less good on pharmaceuticals. If this is compared with the various tasks of pharmacy, then it proves that the existence of pharmacy is less so perceived by the general public. In fact, the pharmacist profession has been recognized by professions such as veterinarians, dentists, nurses, and specialist doctors.
If we look at the development of Indonesian education today, pharmacy is a department that is not foreign to the public. Even the growth of pharmacy departments in colleges is increasing every year. In every opening of college admission, the pharmacy majors always enter the favorite majors and included in the majors with the highest interest. However, when we return to the public view of pharmacists and pharmacists, the most common answer says that pharmacists or pharmacists are "pharmacists". The question now is, if the pharmacy in Indonesia is growing, why is the society's view that pharmacists and pharmacists are "keepers of pharmacies"?
In Indonesia, food and beverages may pass through the considerations and regulations of health ministers represented by the physician profession. So the Indonesian pharmacy is not yet fully free and is recognized as a profession that is able to grow even though many stand big pharmaceutical factories in this country. On the other hand, most of the mentality of Indonesian pharmacy graduates are still thinking about technical work only. Not too concerned about the issues that occur in the world of pharmacy, the regulations that regulate pharmacy and are willing to concurrently work to work in the public sector as a draft regulators.
Given so many pharmaceutical roles and scopes, why are so many people looking at pharmacists and pharmacists as "pharmacy keepers"? Where pharmacy graduates are growing every year to the extent that its role is not so visible and covered by the medical profession ??
Most pharmacists and pharmacists are girls, even 3: 1 (or even more) for girls: guys. We know together that not a little girl who hung her fate on her (husband) when she was married. This is in the sense that girls will be willing to let go of all the knowledge they have gained, where as if they are looking for lectures just in case. With a girl-dominated department of pharmacy is not impossible graduates drastically reduced in reality in the world of work. The next reason, the pharmacy is still made "second choice" by people who are studying the pharmacy so they live it halfheartedly because their understanding is still less about pharmacy. Furthermore, that is a classic problem for people who enter college, which is a job problem. In Indonesia, the proper work is occupied by a pharmacist, still held by a non-pharmaceutical person.1Pharmacy is not a discipline that prints "pharmacy guards", but the discipline that produces the seeds of a skilled healthcare professional. Evident from the demands of those who must be able to analyze the cause of the disease, the content of a substance so that he can be used as medicine, and connect the two things.
