Terbangan in Indonesia. But, one unique Terbangan is different from other Terbangan scattered throughout Java. This Terbangan called Terbangan Sunan Kalijogo. According to its name, this terbangan role model is Sunan Kalijaga and has been around for over 75+ years (since Indonesian independence).
Bapak Suntoro, one of the descendants of the cultural elders of Terbangan Sunan Kalijogo in the Torongrejo village, said that Terbangan Sunan Kalijogo is different because it has no other variations, and the beat is certain from time to time because it retains the first-generation role models. The song used in Terbangan Sunan Kalijogo is Al-Qur'an based and only sourced from Islam regarding by Rasulullah. As for now, the head of Terbang Sunan Kalijogo is Bapak Karyadi and the mechanism of Terbangan Sunan Kalijogo is held on Jumat Legi by being paraded from Watu Saron to Punden, where the ancestors or important figures in Klerek Hamlet stay. But this mechanism is only held during special occasions like Syukuran Desa or Selametan Desa. Other occasions can also use Terbangan Sunan Kalijogo as part of the event. For example, people usually use it for parading the bride during a wedding and sometimes for Pitonan (the seven-month anniversary of a baby's birth).
As time goes by, many new cultures from other countries are entering our country and slowly changing the original culture that has existed for a long time. As a form of preserving the original culture from Torongrejo, Terbang Sunan Kalijogo, routine training is carried out every week.
