The rainbow is a beautiful natural phenomenon that appears above the clouds with various colors totaling seven in the same line. A rainbow can also define as a natural phenomenon in the form of an optical illusion that occurs in the atmosphere with colorful parallel features stretching across the sky. The rainbow is the most awaited phenomenon because it presents a wonderful light show.
The rainbow process involves several elements. They start from raindrops, sunlight, and the air or the Earth's atmosphere. Rainbows formed from meteorology, which causes a spectrum of light in the sky was apparent when the sun illuminates water droplets in the Earth's atmosphere; this is also known as light refraction. From this process, it can be seen that several elements are essential in their involvement in the rainbow formation process. The rainbow was originally white because it formed from the rotation of the sun's colors; now, the rainbow has a variety of colors. The rainbow has seven colors, such as red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and purple. The first rainbow color that is deflected by rainbow light is purple. In contrast, the red color formed when the last downpour of rain deflects sunlight. Rainbows have one type, and rainbows have several types, including fog rainbows, double rainbows, circular rainbows, one-color rainbows, twin rainbows, extra-color rainbows, and moon rainbows.
This famously beautiful natural phenomenon also has myths that have been well-known among the public for centuries. One of them is in Greek mythology. The goddess Iris is the representative of the rainbow because this goddess carries messages between heaven and Earth. As well as the goddess Iris is a sign of hope. Therefore, ancient people believed that the arrival of a rainbow would bring good things.
