Yogyakarta BUMN Rumah Workshop (Ruby) on "Introduction To Gut Health" with guest speaker Maria Stephanie, a Yabbiekayu Whole Food Restaurant consultant which was held at BRICafe x Couvee on Jl Sagan Timur 123 Yogyakarta. When attending the workshop at that time there was a Ruby market which was also being held there, so you could eat various traditional snacks that were sold there at the same time.Â
During the workshop we learned how to recognize our own body, especially our stomach and intestines, and explained what foods interfere with our body's digestive system. We also discuss about prebiotics and probiotics, the majority of prebiotics are in the form of fiber, both vegetables and others. If you want to increase your consumption of prebiotics, eat more vegetables, for example salads. Prebiotics are substrates that are used selectively by host microorganisms to provide health benefits.Â
In our intestines are inhabited by various types of microbes, there are decomposer and commensal microbes and there are also pathogenic microbes. There are those whose job is to break down the fibers, there are those who break down the layers of inflammation and pathogenic insects. Fiber is categorized as a prebiotic besides being used to maintain the survival of fiber-decomposing microbes but also as short chain fatty acid compounds that can help maintain the health of our bodies.
