MMIDF: A Granary of Hope and Resilience
Beyond all of that, on a 7-hectare plot of land, soldiers and Persit members from Kodim 1311 pioneered a new innovation: an integrated military farming initiative they named MMIDF --- Morowali Military Integrated Demonstration Farm.
They cleared the land, transformed swamps into fish ponds, and planted upland rice and grapes inside greenhouses. Goat pens were built, laying hens were raised, and every corner was guarded with the discipline of a military post. They carried hoes, buckets, and baskets filled with produce.
At the edge of the farm stands a Healthy Kitchen, serving nutritious meals to villagers every day. No one has to pay. It is all by the people, for the people.
When Soldiers Plant, the People GrowÂ
"We may not be professional farmers," said Private First Class Alifudin as he fed 2,300 laying hens.
"But we're learning---because today, serving the people means more than holding a rifle. It means helping them harvest hope."
MMIDF is not just about food security---it is a center of innovation.
Every process is fully integrated: from seed cultivation, maintenance, and harvest to distribution.
All of it is carried out with military discipline and the heart of the people.
A gazebo was built as a resting place, and small paved paths were laid so children could ride their bicycles between the gardens. The firing range remains, because professionalism must never fade---but this time, it's the sound of laughter that echoes more often than gunfire.
