Lions Club Jakarta Monas and Lentera Rumah Inklusif Empower the Visually Impaired through Microsoft Office and English Training

Jakarta, Solidernews.com, On Saturday, March 22, 2025, the Lentera Rumah Inklusif foundation held a virtual graduation day for the sixth batch for its scholarship program, aimed at equipping visually impaired individuals with skills in basic Microsoft Office & internet and basic English for daily activity. The event, held via Zoom at 2:00 PM WIB, was fully supported by Lions Club Jakarta Monas.

The traning ran from February 18 to March 20, 2025, and offered two specialized programs: basic Microsoft Office & internet and basic English for daily activity.

In the basic Microsoft Office & internet program, participants learned to operate Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, and explore the internet effectively. The basic English course emphasized spoken communication while also developing grammar, listening, reading, and writing skills.

Sofyan Sukmana, founder of the Lentera Rumah Inklusif Foundation, shared the program's mission:

"We Launched this training to empower visually impaired individuals with essential technology and language skills. A survey of 100 alumni revealed that 50% used their new skills to support education and organizational activities, 35% became educators, and 15% entered the workforce. Our goal is to help them become empowered, skilled, literate, and equivalent in society," he told Solidernews on March 23, 2025.

This batch included 20 participants from across Indonesia, 10 people were dedicated to learning basic Microsoft Office & internet, while 10 others focused on basic English for daily activity. Six outstanding participants received awards during the graduation ceremony.

Among the awardees, Andi Fajrin from Central Java expressed his gratitude:

"I'm very grateful to the instructors at Lentera Rumah Inklusif Foundation. They were always patient and kind. My confidence in speaking English with people from other countries has really improved. I hope the program continues and grows to advance levels."

Rian, another outstanding participant from South Kalimantan, shared the similar testimony:

"My confidence grew significantly, thanks to the competent and engaging instructors. They made the learning experience interactive and enjoyable, encouraging us to speak up and challenge ourselves. I hope this free training continues so that other visually impaired individuals can benefit."
