In today's digital era, schools are required not only to be places of learning but also institutions capable of managing information quickly, accurately, and transparently. This phenomenon can be seen in the number of educational institutions that have begun to switch from manual to digital systems. The reality on the ground shows that many schools still face obstacles in recording student data, delays in academic reports, and limited communication with parents. On the other hand, the public is increasingly demanding more open, efficient, and accessible educational services. Digital transformation through the Student Management Information System (SIMKES) is the answer to these needs.

The assumption is that with the implementation of SIMKES, schools will be more adaptive to technological developments and able to improve service quality. However, the gap that still exists is that many educational institutions do not yet have adequate infrastructure or trained human resources to operate this digital system. The main problem that arises is the delay in technology adoption, which has an impact on low accountability and quality of student data management. Therefore, the purpose of this essay is to explain how SIMKES is a strategic solution to address these challenges while encouraging schools to be more innovative.

The concept of student information system management emphasises the importance of integration between human resources and information technology. SIMKES is not just an application, but a system that supports planning, organising, controlling, and evaluating students. From new student admissions and guidance to alumni records, everything is managed based on data. This is in line with the requirements of the National Education System Law, which mandates that educational services must support the optimal development of students' potential.

The scope and tasks of SIMKES cover various important aspects, ranging from planning the number of students, selecting new students, dividing classes, academic and non-academic guidance, to recording graduation and alumni ties. In practice, this system helps schools design more structured student programmes, foster student council and extracurricular activities, and ensure student welfare through scholarship programmes or School Health Units (UKS). In other words, SIMKES places students at the centre of every management process.

The benefits and results of SIMKES can be felt directly in the increased efficiency of school work. Teachers and staff are no longer burdened by repetitive administrative tasks, as the digital system is able to present data quickly and accurately. The results obtained include integrated data storage, monitoring of student progress, transparent academic reports, and easier access to information for parents and education authorities. In addition, SIMKES also supports two-way communication through a portal or application that can be accessed by students and parents in real time.

The SIMKES development model is now increasingly advanced with the presence of a web-based PPDB system, integration of academic, financial, and personnel data, and even school libraries. This programme enables schools to present data in real time, multi-user, and integrated, thereby accelerating the decision-making process. The presence of an integrated SIM is even capable of connecting fingerprint attendance, automatic grade reports, and even sending information via SMS gateway. All of this demonstrates that digital transformation in student management not only improves service quality but also strengthens the competitiveness of educational institutions in the global era.
