Research in educational management is an essential scientific activity for improving the quality of education management. With a systematic, logical, and empirical approach, research not only identifies problems and analyzes causes, but also produces evidence-based solutions that can be accounted for. In addition, research plays an important role in developing theory, supporting data-driven decision making, improving educational practices, and shaping academic competencies. Thus, research serves as a bridge between theory and practice, ensuring that educational management is more objective, adaptive, and sustainable.

First: The Meaning and Nature of Educational Management Research

Research in educational management is a systematic, logical, and empirical scientific activity that serves to identify problems, analyze causes, and offer evidence-based solutions. Unlike spontaneous and descriptive observations, research uses controlled methods and theories to produce accountable findings. In educational management practice, research forms the basis for accurate decision-making, supports evaluation, continuous development, and policy legitimacy.

Second: The Functions of Educational Management Research

Research in educational management serves to develop theory (theoretical), solve practical problems in educational institutions (practical), form the basis for evidence-based decision-making (policy), and shape students' academic competencies (academic). Overall, research bridges theory and practice, making educational management more objective, adaptive, and sustainable.

Third: The Advantages of Management Research

Research in educational management has four main functions. First, the theoretical function, which is to develop knowledge and refine theories in line with social, cultural, and technological dynamics. Second, the practical function, which is to provide solutions to real problems in educational institutions and support program evaluation and improvement. Third, the policy function, which is to serve as the basis for evidence-based policy-making and strategic planning to improve the effectiveness of education. Fourth, the academic function, as a requirement for higher education that trains scientific skills, critical thinking, and contributes to national literature. Overall, research bridges theory and practice, ensuring that educational management is more objective, adaptive, and sustainable.

Fourth: Other Types of Studies Similar to Research in the format you requested, along with reflections and chapter conclusions (natizah).

In education management, evaluation studies, literature reviews, non-research case studies, and scientific essays serve as complementary analyses, but they differ from systematic research, which generates new knowledge and can be replicated. Research remains central to the development of theory and practice, while other studies support reflection and decision-making.

Natiazah:

Overall, research in educational management is the main foundation for evidence-based science, practice, and policy development. Its theoretical, practical, policy, and academic functions make research the link between theory and practice, as well as the main instrument for objective, adaptive, and sustainable decision-making. Other studies such as evaluations, literature reviews, non-research case studies, and scientific essays are complementary, providing additional insights and supporting reflection, but they do not replace the role of research as the center of new knowledge creation and scientific validation in educational management.

This article is a review of Part II (Research in Educational Management) from the teaching materials for the course Research Methods in Management, taught by Prof. Dr. H. A Rusdiana, M.M.
