I was born to WORSHIP because all of creature in the world created just for respectful greeting to the God. ---WORKED because work was one of the measures of man; because he had a vision of his country and the world, and no vision can be made reality without sinew and sweat. ---PLAYED because man cannot live by bread alone, and doesn’t even want to; because the card game, the horse race, and the lyric poem are not far apart. ---LOVED because he knew what it meant to be a man, that one of man’s responsibilities is love; loved his neighbors (and sometimes his neighbor’s wife) not quite as himself but almost. ---FOUGHT because in a growing, brawling, frontier world anything valuable must, sooner or later, be fought for; because God may be on man’s side, but battles can be lost anyway. ---DREAMED of greatness of his own land, his country, of which Indonesian country was the heart; a country split by dreams into a Civil War and restored by dreams to a unity: a country which would someday bear in its men and women the hope of the whole world’s dreams.
