China is the most populous country in the world with a population over 1.35 billion. China is located in Asia, 5 with an area of approximately 9.6 million square kilometers, which is the world's second-largest country by land area, and is the world's third of fourth largest country by total area. China has over 22 provinces, 5 autonomous regions, 4 direct-controlled municipalities, which are Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai and Chongqing, and 2 mostly self-governing special regions, which are Hong Kong and Macau. Beijing is the capital city of China.

China has a very serious problem with overpopulation. Its country covers more or less 21 percent of the world's population. This causes some overly populated regions lead to degradation of land and resources, pollution and detrimental living. Dentrimental living means it can cause harm or damage to their living. The Chinese government has tried to find solution on resolving this overpopulation problem. Their solutions is the one child policy

One child policy is a part of the family planning, where they are only allowed to have one child. This has been established in 1979. Since China has been using the one child policy, it has given lots of impact, both positive and negative, to its country and population.

The advantages are

  • Population control -- since then, there were 400 births prevented
  • Job Opportunities -- the younger generation will be able to take the place of available jobs
  • Better Life -- the newborn will receive all the attention, love and financial resources of the parents that will be enjoyed by a child
  • Incentives -- Chinese parents who followed the rule were given certificate which they used to enjoy some perks such as getting discounts, applying for education loans for their children, longer days of maternity leave and housing loans

The disadvantages are:

  • Forced abortions -- the number of abortion in China is high, doctors have already perform 1500 abortions
  • Added Burden on Children -- it will be hard for the child to juggle between family life, career and care of parents when they get older
  • Increased Adoption Number -- parents that don't want to abort their second child will have to either hide them or send them up for adoption
